Reports from South Carolina
Bob Krumm drove the six hours from Nashville to South Carolina this weekend to help out his man Fred Thompson in the state. Here’s his report:
Here’s how the view looks from the ground in this corner of South Carolina: Fred Thompson has a good lead over Mike Huckabee, who is closely followed by John McCain. Interestingly, there wasn’t a single Mitt Romney suporter–not one–among all the homes we visited. It’s just a single piece of anecdotal data, but it does point to the notion that endorsements mean less and less since Romney has the Greenville establishment solidly behind him. U.S. Senator Jim Demint, who lives here, and Bob Taylor, dean of Bob Jones University, have both endorsed the Massachusetts Governor, but to no avail. Less surprisingly, Rudy Giuliani is also without apparent supporters here.
